Stay in Amsterdam's coolest and most eccentric new five-star hotel - including bed, breakfast and plenty of extras

Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht

A hip and outlandish five-star hotel with a dead-central location, the Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht opened in 2012 in a building that once served as the public library of Amsterdam. On the subject of literature, the Andaz could easily provide the set to a scene from Alice in Wonderland. Acclaimed designer Marcel Wanders (dubbed the Lady Gaga of interiors) has blended Dutch iconography with gigantic bells suspended from the lobby ceiling, a striking display of intergalactic lighting and a tribute to some form of art in every corner of the hotel - including video installations playing on loop in the hallways and painted wall murals in the garden.

With so many aesthetic reasons to love this brand-new Andaz, it's good to know that this luxury hotel has style and substance by the bucketload. There's a relaxed lounge space in the heart of the hotel, the Bluespoon bar whips up expertly mixed drinks and the sleek Bluespoon restaurant does fine dining with a wholesome farm-to-table vibe. You'll also stumble upon a beautiful spa offering plenty of squishy spaces to chill out in and a 24-hour gym with state-of-the-art equipment.
RoomsGuest rooms take it a little easier than the rest of the hotel, the luxurious finishes and iconic design pieces are very much present, but in fresh, crisp white shades and only the occasional splash of bright colour or print to ensure a clear mind when you hit the sheets
